Many subscribers and Members have asked me where I host my sites.
About a year ago I was going through a tough time with my old host (which will remain nameless). Look, I run a serious business online and need a reliable host. Period. One that does not go down, change their policies every month to suit their needs and one who I can call on the phone if need be.
So I started looking around and found an absolute gem in the industry. Not only do these guys undestand hosting, they understand customer service and act like a business who cares instead of a fraternity of geeks.
I have been with them over a year and could not be happier.
Let me tell you a story why I will never leave these guys.
Last November, I went to visit a page on my site and it said it was ‘unavailable’…. “That’s strange”, I thought.
I called “Tom” and told him what the problem was. He said, “Dave, we’ve tried sending you emails for 3 months, finally we had to place your account on hold. We tried emailing you but got no response”?
“What’s the problem?” I asked.
“You’re credit card was denied several times. We’re not getting paid”, he said quietly.
The orginal email address I signed up under I hadn’t checked in months, and lo and behold, I checked and there were all the notices he sent. I had also changed banks, shut down my old business account and never updated my ‘credit card on file’ with them so it’s no wonder the card was being denied- the account was CLOSED! …but they kept me going for 3 months even though they had stopped getting paid! Well, when he told me what happened I almost died from embarassment and immediately gave him my new card. Within seconds, yes, seconds my site was back live without a hitch.
Let me give you another story. My old host would shut me down with one of those dreaded “Suspended account” pages on my home page anytime they got more than 1 spam complaint a week. Yes, one. Now at that time I had 7,000+ on my list and some people just plain forgot they subscribed so I get a complaint now and then. I never got a notice from them about what happened, they would just shut me down. And it happened more than once.
Right now my list is over 28,900 and my host I still gets the occasional complaint — but they have NEVER shut me down. Instead they send me an email that this person complained, give me the email address and I immediately remove them from my list and make sure they never sign up again.
No stupid “Suspended account” notices, no threats just good customer service who understands business online. They treat me with respect and they treat me like a real business.
Then I found out these guys are in the same datacenter Google uses so I know the connections are excellent and security is top notch.
If you’re looking for a host to get your business started or need to make a switch like I did, you cannot go wrong with these guys. I host both my regular sites (on a shared server) and my dedicated server (for email) with them.

1Hi Dave - as one of your students - I always investigate each recommendation that you make. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the article on Myriad Hosting. They now have a new customer and this is why–its also a lesson I think that everyone can benefit from.
Being a newbie in this online world can be very confusing. Who to host–who to trust–what to buy-and a million other things. Well, here is my hosting story and why I think that this company will do nothing but succeed.
For the last 2 days I have being going from host to host to host trying to figure out where I want to be. This is a process that can literally have your head spinning! So, this being a Sunday, I figured I better make a decision on the who to host scenario. Then I read your post on Myriad Hosting.
I went to the home page, looked at the cost–figured they are right in line with everybody else, but naturally I had some questions.
So–I sent them an email. Now since this is Sunday–I figured I wouldn’t get a response till the beginning of the week.
Well guess what? The OWNER of the company called me!! Now let me repeat that in case you didn’t hear me right–The OWNER of the company called me!! On a Sunday morning! Now-after I got over the initial shock that somebody actually cares–we went on to have a conversation for almost an hour!
He answered every question that I had and he didn’t make me feel like an uninformed newbie. He cared. He didn’t try to sell me–just gave me the facts. Well guess what? He now has a new customer, and the decision was an easy one.
The lesson to be learned in all of this is actually quite simple–
Make yourself available to your customers in some way, shape or form. Beause I just gotta tell ya–it’s a very powerful tool that almost nobody does.
I wish I had a dollar for every email that I have sent to people just asking a few simple questions about their product or service. Most if not all do NOT write back, so guess what happens–I don’t spend my money there. The ones that do answer-those are the ones that I do.
So in all of this–take it for what you will–but I’m just telling you that in world of everyone barking at you to Buy Mine–the ones who care will and should continue to get cusomers and prosper. They “GET IT”.
Oh–by the way–David “gets it”. He has always answered questions–no matter how silly they are. I know–I’ve asked him lots of silly ones!
